BOTOX® & Azzalure

The Products

There are several manufacturers of Botulinum Toxin Type A. They are all derived from the Clostridium botulinum bacteria, an organism found in the natural environment where it is largely inactive and non-toxic. Azzalure is a well-known and widely used product with safe and reliable results.

Everyone is unique and has different expectations and aesthetic needs. It is therefore important that we carry out a face-to-face consultation to achieve the correct results for you. We will have a chat about your expectations and medical history, and your face will be carefully assessed for what can be achieved and the likely outcome.

We can then answer any questions you may have. All consultations are complimentary and there to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision. Cost will also be discussed and if you wish treatment can be carried out during that appointment. There is no obligation for you to go ahead with treatment if you decide its not the right choice for you.

The Procedure

Azzalure is gently injected into the skin using a micro-fine needle in multiple sites. There is minimal discomfort and anaesthetic is not required. You can expect some slight redness of the area straight afterwards. Post op soothing solution will be applied to help calm any irritation. Most people return to work etc straight afterwards.

The effects of BOTOX are not immediate and usually start to take effect 3-5 days after injection and progress over the next 1-2 weeks.

Full after care advice specific to you will be given at the end of your appointment. We advise not to lie down for 3-4 hours after injection and to avoid exercise or alcohol for 24 hours. Facial treatments and exposure to UV (sun beds) should be avoided for 1 week.

General risks of BOTOX include:

  • Common: Redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising
  • Rare: Infection at injection sites, asymmetry requiring top-up
  • Very Rare: Migration of the BOTOX into neighbouring muscles causing eyebrow/eyelid drooping, Allergic Reaction
