Dermal Fillers help to replace volume lost through the effects of gravity and a reduction of collagen elastin and Hyaluronic Acid (HA)in the skin.
Dermal Fillers are a synthetic version of Hyaluronic Acid which is a natural protein within your skin. Hyaluronic acid binds with water within the skin, thereby not only improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but also rehydrating the skin and restoring its youthful appearance.
Fillers are a way of creating a natural result and maintaining facial movement to appear fresher and more youthful
There are many fillers on the market, however research shows that some provide more reliable and safe results. I prefer to work with Restylane®, Teosyal and Belotero®, which have a varied range allowing me to tailor treatment to each individual’s needs.
Everyone is unique and has different expectations and aesthetic needs. It is therefore important that we carry out a face-to-face consultation to achieve the correct results for you.
We will have a chat about your expectations & medical history, and your face will be carefully assessed for what can be done and the likely outcome. We can then select the correct product and answer any questions you may have.
The dermal filler is gently injected into the skin using a micro-fine needle. A local anaesthetic can be used prior to treatment (if needed), however most people are fine without. The effects of fillers can be seen immediately and usually last around 9-12 months.
The area may be a little swollen, tender and red for 24 hours after the procedure. During that time, we may advise you to avoid alcohol, hot drinks and the sun.
General risks of dermal fillers include:
- Common: Redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising
- Rare: Infection, Uneven filler (requiring massage)
- Very Rare: Migration of the filler, Allergic Reaction, blockage of blood vessel (requiring the filler to be dissolved)
